Presented for left hindlimb lameness following failed left cranial cruciate ligament repair. Evaluation: Dog was presented with failed imbrication suture for cruciate ligament rupture. Owner reported that dog had "traditional" cranial cruciate ligament surgery two months previously at another hospital. Physical examination of the left stifle revealed a positive sit test, positive tibial compression test in both extension and flexion, and a positive drawer sign. Palpation of the medial meniscus showed inflammation. Radiographs of the left stifle revealed fibrosis of the caudal margin of the fat pad, fat pad inflammation and degenerative joint disease. Diagnosis: Complete rupture of the left cranial cruciate ligament with failed imbrication repair. Treatment: Left Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy. No arthrotomy performed. Pathologic notes: Abscess was found beneath lateral incision line which was cultured. Pathology revealed moderate staphylococcus species, coagulase negative. No arthrotomy performed due to infection. Recheck Examination: Three year, five month follow-up. Letter from owner 7 1/2 years post-op:
