Slocum^® Joint Hinges

    The Slocum^® joint hinge is a unique innovation in external fixation devices.  It allows one degree of freedom, providing controlled rotation around one axis without shifting along that axis.  This is of particular value in shearing injuries of the hock, physeal fractures, multiple limb injuries, and hock and elbow dislocations.   It has the advantage of allowing immediate usage of the affected limb as it maintains the physiologic range of motion and stabilizes the joint.  It is also beneficial in cases of stifle derangement as it neutralizes cranial tibial thrust, controls axial rotation of the tibia and supports soft tissue healing.  U.S. Patent No. 5,578,038   No. 6,464,705
